SOUND ASSOCIATES, INC. PROVIDES SHOWTRANS FOR THE REVIVAL OF LES MISERABLES AT THE BROADHURST THEATRE

BROADWAY, NY June 1, 2007 - As Les Misérables makes its triumphant return to Broadway, non-English speaking audiences will be able to enjoy the show's revival thanks to the ShowTrans system from Sound Associates, Inc. ShowTrans has been improved and refashioned since an earlier version of this multilingual commentary system was available during the first run of Les Misérables in 1997.

With the ShowTrans system French, Portuguese, Japanese and Spanish speaking theatre patrons can listen to a plot summary of the performance in their native language through a personal wireless device. This fully automated system features a small receiver and single ear bud to be worn in one ear. This service does not offer direct dialogue translation, instead it provides plot details, so theatre goers can easily follow along with the show. With ShowTrans, the music and action of the live performance can be enjoyed free of distraction. The cutting-edge technology of the ShowTrans system synchronizes the pre-recorded audio translation with the lighting cues of the show. The synopsis is accurately provided at key points of the show, corresponding to the action on stage.

ShowTrans is also currently available at Broadway productions of Rent, Beauty and The Beast, Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Hair Spray and Mama Mia. With the approaching ten year anniversary of this unique translation innovation Sound Associates, Inc. is proud to once again bring the story of Les Misérables to multilingual theatre patrons.
